Our new Gino shirts collection is entirely made of linen fabrics or a linen/cotton mix.

Why linen?! Well for many different reason:

  • Linen is stronger than cotton
  • High moisture absorbency
  • Hypo – allergenic
  • Highly breathable
  • Structurally sound fiber
  • Environmentally friendly
  • It gets softer the more it is washed

Linen is woven from the fibers of the flax plant and is a completely natural product. It got is name from the Latin word “Linum” which means” Flax”.

Linen fabric feels fresh and cool, right? That is because it can absorb up to 20% of its own weight in moisture while still feeling dry to the touch. When you wear a piece of linen clothing, it contacts your skin the nodes along the length of the fibers. These absorb the perspiration. Then they swell and release the moisture to the outside air. Hence, it creates a fabric that is self-cooled because of evaporation.

On top of that it’s probably one of the most sustainable fabric you can find. The productions of linen fabric use five to twenty times less water and energy than the productions of cotton or other synthetic fabric.

Linen fabric is also biodegradable, recyclable, non-static, non-allergenic and naturally insect-repellent. In addition, it gives UV protection.
